Dymocks Children’s Charity

Dymocks Children’s Charities supports early literacy in Australia by providing new books to children in low social economic and disadvantaged areas. The charity delivers programs that target students, primary school libraries and pre-school/ community centres. Most projects involve restocking school libraries where there is insufficient school funding for books, or following natural disasters in a particular area. Dymocks Children’s Charities pairs with sponsors to place a catalogue of quality titles to choose from in selected schools in these regions, so that they can get the books that they really want and need.

This month we are asking you to create a Children’s Monster Library Bag to help Dymocks fundraise for their Annual Gala event, where they’re hoping to raise $325,000, which will go towards funding new books for these children.

Sewalong Brief

Create a Monster Library bag using Linen, Denim or Canvas material.

Or, purchase a linen or canvas tote bag and decorate it using our monster face applique pattern or a design of your own (embroidered or appliqued).

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO CREATE THE PROJECT?

This sewalong will run from 1 – 31st January 2019. However you can continue to donate all year round.

THINGS TO REMEMBER

Sewalongs are a great way to get inspired by what everyone creates, while giving to a worthy cause. If you’re new to sewing or embroidering this is a great chance to get involved and have fun no matter what the outcome. Any excuse to put your sewing and embroidery machines to good use is a great one.
